Our Finance teams play a fundamental role in Finnair by carrying the responsibility over the totality of financial accounting of the group.

Financial Services internship program in Finnair Business Services OÜ (FBS) covers a wide area of financial accounting in an international company. FBS is a shared service center who provices financial services to the whole Finnair group. In Finance area, our main task is to perform financial accounting services, including preparing financial statements of individual group companies. Additionally, we provide support for Business Control and Treasury teams located in Finland by providing accurate financial information for management purposes.
The internship would cover approx. 250 hours (12 weeks) of different activities performed in our financial teams. It will begin primarily with accounts payable functions (S2P team) and then progress further through the accounting cycle. Specific adjustments in the internship plan can be discussed individually. The internship covers operational and observational practice, document analysis and, in some cases, independent work. Usually we take interns for spring and summer periods, we announce the application period in our career site.
Source to Pay (S2P) – The main tasks of the team are accounts payable invoice handling, travel expense claims handling, communication with vendors and partners, purchase order support and training.
Order to Cash (O2C) – The team consists of three sub-teams. Accounts Receivable subteam is mainly handling customer invoicing, handling and monitoring customer payments, performing credit control. Travel retail management subteam is reconciling onboard sales for all Finnair flights. Payments subteam tasks are sending payments to banks, posting and handling bank account statement, handling customer refunds, short term cash forecast to Treasury.
Aviation Charges (AC) – The main task is checking and approving jet fuel and other aviation charges invoices. Additionally, they are also calculating and posting related accruals and deferrals for month end closing, inserting price updates in different systems used for invoice check, accrual calculation and forecasting purposes.
Record to Report (R2R) – This team is mainly leading the month end closing process. Their responsibilities include period end closing and adjustment entries (depreciation, accruals, deferrals currency runs etc), reconciling general ledger accounts, preparing financial statements, regulatory and tax reports, participating in financial accounting.
